Observers around the world stepped outside this week to see the Wolf Moon rise high in the night sky.
The Wolf Moon is the nickname given to January's full Moon, the first full Moon of 2025.
Anyone who took the time to look up at the Moon over the evening of 13/14 January 2025 will also have noticed the planet Mars close-by.
Stargazers were able to watch Mars get close to the Wolf Moon in the night sky, and anyone observing from the USA also had the chance to see a lunar occultation of Mars, when the Red Planet seemed to disappear behind the Moon.
New York-based astrophotographer Chirag Upreti was imaging the full Wolf Moon of January 2025 and captured this beautiful photo showing the Moon high in the sky above the Statue of Liberty.
The single exposure image was captured from the Red Hook neighbourhood in Brooklyn.
Chirag says: "Although we had a clear sky, the Moon is seen almost riding a bank of low lying clouds just over the statue as morning twilight illuminates the scene."
